About
This Blog is run by R Chambers and is written specifically for his GCSE Geography group at St Ivo School, Cambridgeshire. The group are working on a piece of coursework entitled “Has the CBD in St Ives migrated over the past 30 years”.
Coursework Overview
This coursework is based on St Ives, Cambridgeshire. The aim of the project is to explore patterns of change in the town, focusing in particular on the location of the CBD and how it has changed over the past 30 years. Students will be using secondary sources of evidence, including maps and documents, to identify the location of the CBD in the 1970s. They will then, through fieldwork, undertake primary data collection in order to delimit the present location of the CBD in St Ives. The focus of the study will be on 4 streets in St Ives; Bridge Street, Station Road, The Broadway and Market Hill. Having collected their data students will analyse their findings to identify the area with the most expected characteristics of a CBD. Students will compare its location in the 1970s and today and identify and attempt to explain any changes that they may find. This coursework is worth 25% of the overall Geography GCSE (OCR A).
